Advertise on this site.
So here's how it works. When you signed up with AdSense you entered a website that Google could review to determine whether or not you were AdSense worthy. When a potential advertiser clicks on the "Advertise on this site" link -regardless of what website they are on- they will be taken to a page where they can advertise on the site you used when you signed up.
Kind of silly isn't it? I think so. Especially considering I don't even operate the site I signed up with any longer. That domain isn't even registered anymore. When asked whether or not we can customize the landing page for each site on our AdSense network, Google had the following to say:
For a person with a single site, this may work well. But for the majority of us this is the true meaning of a beta feature. And as much as I like Google, I'm kind of tired of beta testing everything for them. If you'd rather not beta test the feature and turn it off until it works properly, you can do so by logging into your AdSense account and selecting 'My Account' tab. Edit your 'Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up' settings and uncheck the box at the top that says 'Include me in Onsite Advertiser Sign-Up' and save your changes.
I'm not a fan of site-specific ad targeting for reasons I've spoke of before, but I know some advertisers like it. I'll post again when the feature has been implemented properly, so remember to subscribe to our RSS Feed
